Every child needs an angel...

 

READING ALOUD to children requires dedicated trained individuals to volunteer. The Pyjama Foundation recruits its volunteers through an interview and screening process prior to taking a training program.

The training is designed to equip volunteers to carry out the functions of a Pyjama Angel as defined and directed, visiting allocated foster children in their homes each week to read books, play games and enjoy craft activities. Angels have a duty of care and need to be mindful of confidentiality respecting the individual’s rights to privacy.

Each Volunteer Angel works on building a relationship with the child, through READING ALOUD and hence, assists in developing the child’s imagination, creativity and individuality. Angels objectives are to:

The range and professional qualifications of our angels is diverse and they are made up of business and academic professionals and students. Applications for Volunteer Angels are accepted from individuals over 18 years of age.
